PHP V's ASP: when programmers attack?
While all the talk last week mainly centred around the
takeover of YouTube by Google, and speculation as to the
potential fallout for the search engine, there was still space for a swathe of interesting developments to pique the interest of even the most myopic
search engine marketeer.
For example, there was news of an 'uprising' in the massively multiplayer online lifestyle game Second Life, as the
virtual inhabitants mirrored the efforts of their more substantial alter egos who were
standing up against poverty yesterday - and who were joined by nearly 11,000,000 others.
Seemingly inspired by Google's actions the week previously, last week also saw the Carphone Warehouse initiating a
takeover of AOL UK for £370 million in cash. The move has widely been seen as a more mature compliment to the Carphone Warehouse's Talk Talk broadband offering.
Ask has taken up plenty of column inches with the
launch of its new 'Mobile Search' service and the accompanying 'Skweezer' technology. The search engine is desperate to catch up with market leaders such as
Google,
Yahoo!, and MSN. Making mobile search look more and more like the hot new arena being contested by the
search engines.
As always, there's plenty more to search than the highlights. So drop that search operator command and read on with the bigmouthmedia newsletter for all there is to know about
search engine optimisation.
Oh, and maybe you could also help resolve this week's hot debate:
are PHP programmers really more aware of SEO than ASP coders?
